The City of Shelby adopted the State Residential Building Code. Building permits for residential construction are now issued by Richland County Building Codes & Permits. A zoning permit is required before a building permit will be issued by Richland County Codes & Permits. Please contact Joe Gies with questions about zoning permits. Permits issued in the City of Shelby include: Demolition permits for residential buildings....$20 Demolition permits for commercial buildings....$40 Fence permits....$10 Siding permits....$5 Sewer tap permits....$50 Zoning permits are needed for teh following items and may be obtained from the Shelby Building & Zoning Office. A site plan indicating property lines, existing buildings and any new or proposed buildings will be needed. One family dwelling unit....$25 Two family dwelling Unit....$35 Three or more dwelling units...$25 for the first unit and $10 per additional unit Temporary building....$10 Accessory building, residential....$10 Accessory building, commercial/industrial....$25 and $1 per 1,000 sqare foot (Maximum $200) Business use....$50 plus $1per 1,000 square foot (Maximum $250) Sign permit....$10 Conditional Zoning Permits Residential....$60 Business....$60 Industrial....$60 Variance....$60 Appeal to Board of Zoning Appeals....$60 Appeal to Zoning Inspectors decision....$60 Application for amendment to resolution....$60 |
